Where is the world’s largest zipline system?

In the jungle of the Sierra Madre mountains!

Puerto Vallarta is always one of my most favorite cruise ports every time we visit. One of my favorite things we have done there is the Los Veranos Canopy Tour. It can be done by cruise passengers or visitors staying on land.

Los Veranos has 19 ziplines, that are up to 600ft off the ground! Flying through the canyon feels like nothing you’ve ever experienced before.

The ziplines are located on a private reserve in the heart of the Sierra Madre jungle. You will start at the Puerto Vallarta Marina, and take a speed boat ride through Banderas Bay for about 25 minutes. From there, you will get on a jungle truck and drive through local villages up the mountain. Your tour price includes round trip transportation.  First on a speed boat, then on a jungle truck.

This tour is best for those in good physical shape, as it includes hiking up steep dirt trails for about 10 minutes at a time to each zipline. It isn’t anything crazy (I mean, I did it) but it isn’t flat and paved… minimum age is 5 yrs old and 40inches tall. Max weight is 285lbs. Our group had people that were large, small, old and young, and it was fine for all of us.

Clothing should be comfortable. Consider the hiking, as well as the harness strapped around your hips. I wish I would have worn longer shorts so it didn’t rub on my legs, but it wasn’t bad. You don’t need a swimsuit. You won’t get wet unless you want to jump in the river.

Helmets are required, so hair in high buns may not work. Shoes with a heel strap are required. They prefer closed-toed, but I wore Tevas and was totally fine. Bug spray is a good idea if you have it.

Food is not included in the price, but they do have a full service restaurant and bar on site. A small tequila tasting experience is included if you’re interested. There is a waterslide into the river where you can swim. They also have a little “zoo” with birds and monkeys.

The current price (as of 9/2023) is about $115/adult, and $81/child (USD). They do offer a transportation only option if there are folks in your group that do not want to zipline! Those are about $30/person. The non-zipliners can sit by the river with the rescued animals, or read a book, or just take in the beautiful area around them.

It takes about 5 hours total so you can do it even if you’re just stopping in for a cruise port! You’ll even have a bit of time afterwards to go to the public beach.

Would you go on a zipline above a canyon? What about 600ft above a canyon?

Let me know if you’ve been here!
